Talk To Dot

Subtitles for real life.

Real-time conversation transcription for people with hearing loss.
Works on phone, tablet and laptop. No app download required.

Conversations shouldn't be this hard.

Hearing loss doesn't just affect the person with the diagnosis. It changes family dinners, catch-ups with friends, meetings at work — any moment where more than one person is speaking at once.

Lip reading breaks down in groups. Background noise makes it worse. And asking people to slow down or repeat themselves, over and over, is exhausting for everyone.

Talk To Dot is a simple fix. Prop up a tablet or phone where it can be seen, tap Start, and the conversation appears on screen in real time — colour-coded by speaker, calm to read, and always up to date. No one needs to download anything. No one needs to change how they speak.

Everything you need. Nothing you don't.

Real-time transcription

Words appear on screen as they're spoken — typically within a second. The conversation keeps moving, and so does the text.

Colour-coded speakers

Each person in the conversation gets their own colour. At a glance, it's clear who said what — even in a busy group.

Choose who to follow

Not every voice needs to appear on screen. Hide any speaker's transcription with a single tap — useful if the person with hearing loss is part of the conversation and doesn't need to see their own words.

Pause anytime

Step away without losing the conversation. Tap Pause to stop listening, then Resume to pick up exactly where you left off — nothing is cleared.

Works on any device

No download, no installation. Open Talk To Dot in any browser — phone, tablet, or laptop. A tablet propped where it can be seen clearly works particularly well.

Reads calmly

Words fade in gently one by one, in a font and size you choose. Designed to be easy to read at a glance, not stressful to follow.

Frequently Asked Questions

What devices does Talk To Dot work on?+

Any device with a modern browser — iPhone, Android, iPad, laptop, or desktop computer. No app download required for any device. A tablet propped upright where the hard-of-hearing person can see it clearly works particularly well for group conversations.

What happens when I run out of minutes?+

You'll see a warning when you're running low. If you reach your monthly limit mid-conversation, transcription pauses and you'll be prompted to upgrade to a higher plan. You can do this instantly and pick up where you left off.

Can I cancel any time?+

Yes. There are no contracts or minimum terms. Cancel from your account page at any time and you'll retain access until the end of your current billing period.

How accurate is the speaker identification?+

Talk To Dot uses Speechmatics, one of the leading speech recognition providers, which automatically separates different voices. Accuracy is good for most group conversations.

Is the audio stored or recorded?+

No. Audio is streamed in real time for transcription and is never stored by Talk To Dot.

Do other people in the conversation need to download anything?+

No. Only the person managing Talk To Dot needs an account. Everyone else just speaks normally — no phones out, no apps to install.

Is it suitable for people with different levels of hearing loss?+

Yes. Talk To Dot works for anyone who finds it difficult to follow spoken conversation — whether that's mild hearing loss, moderate loss, or profound deafness. The font size, font style, and colour theme can all be adjusted to suit personal preference.

What languages does it support?+

Talk To Dot automatically detects the language being spoken and supports over 50 languages. No configuration required.
